Brittany A. Forbes, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, OCS, Dip. Osteopractic, Cert DN, Cert SMT, Cert MST, Cert PBFR
Owner of Alpha Osteopractic
I’m an athlete. I always have been and always will be. I grew up playing soccer, volleyball, softball, and snowboarding. I played on school teams as well as club and premiere teams in soccer and volleyball. I had the benefit of coaches who commanded excellence and inspired a strong work ethic in all training. My competitive and driven background in sports certainly supported my foundation of constantly striving to progress. The foundation of pursing optimal performance, my work ethic and my passion for helping others has driven my constantly advancing knowledge in Physical Therapy. I strive to be the best, so that I can give the best.
I attended Daemen College in Buffalo, NY excelling in an accelerated Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. After graduation, I had the pleasure of moving to the mountains of NC where I was promoted to the Director of Rehabilitation department within 6 months. I had immense opportunities to support the community through providing both inpatient and outpatient physical therapy as well as developing and hosting multiple fundraisers for the Non-profit hospital. I was able to raise enough funds to bring new equipment and treatment options to the PT department, as well as to open a new building for the growing physical therapy department. From here, I was invited to join a team in OBX. Who wouldn’t want to move to the beach? I took the opportunity to learn and grow with a larger team of therapists working in Orthopedics. This is where I met my wonderful husband and got married. Wanting to find the best home for our future family, we decided to move to Hampstead, NC and build our family and community here. I spent a number of years working with a high-level PT owned-physical therapy practice that supported my constant drive for advancing knowledge and practice. Throughout my career, I have attended countless hours of continuing education to continue to learn and employ highly skilled treatments.
I am proud to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapy through The American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. I am also an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists and hold multiple credentials including: Diploma in Osteopractic, Certification in Dry Needling, Certification in Spinal Manipulation, and Certification in Blood Flow Restriction. I am also a Certified Rocktape Provider and Certified in Personalized Blood Flow Restriction Training/Therapy.
Continually advancing my knowledge and skill while working in a dynamic and ever-changing healthcare industry with insurance limitations, restrictions and complicated coverage allowed me to see how much frustration patients deal with when trying to access optimal care. This is why I brought Alpha Osteopractic Physical Therapy and Wellness to our community. I had so many patients over the years that were limited by their insurance companies. My #1 importance in practice is giving each and every individual EXACTLY what would benefit them the most. I have worked tirelessly throughout my career, advancing my knowledge and skill set to be able to use advanced clinical reasoning to identify the root cause of dysfunction, then to employ the most effective and efficient treatments to restore movement and achieve each individuals’ goals. I refuse to be limited by what an insurance company says is allowed for you – I will give you exactly what you need to progress and get back to enjoying your physical fitness. You know with complete confidence that when I recommend a treatment, it is truly for your best improvement. My passion for helping others drives my commitment to providing the absolute best care. I am able to do this by providing a combination of specialized evidence-based treatments in a direct bond with each individual.
When I’m not working with patients or advancing my physical therapy knowledge and skills, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our 2 children. We love to swim, play outdoors and travel.
Erin Saxton
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Alpha Osteopractic
I’m an athlete at heart, always have been, always will be. My athletic journey began with conventional weightlifting, volleyball, and yoga, and expanded to include outdoor activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, and camping. I’ve challenged myself in Spartan races and local 5Ks, embodying the spirit of being a doer of all and a master of none. My diverse athletic background has provided me with valuable insights into the human body’s capabilities and limitations, which I apply in my work as a Physical Therapy Assistant. My professional path has been as diverse as my athletic pursuits. I started with a Marketing degree and spent several years in Retail management before discovering my true calling in Physical Therapy. This unique background gives me a well-rounded perspective on patient care and practice management. I completed my PTA degree later in life, a decision that allowed me to combine my passion for health and fitness with my desire to help others achieve their goals.
Throughout my career, I’ve gained valuable experience in various areas of physical therapy, including human performance, traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation, work in Naval hospitals, post-surgical care, and supporting amputees. My passion lies in performance enhancement and working with special populations to help them reach their full potential. I’ve furthered my expertise with certifications in Barbell Rehab, Functional Movement Systems (FMS), and PPSC, constantly striving to expand my knowledge and skills to better serve my patients.
I firmly believe in a holistic approach to health and wellness. In my practice, I emphasize that the location of pain isn’t always the source of the problem, and that achieving optimal health requires addressing both body and mind. I’m committed to forming personal and emotional connections with my patients, prioritizing their individual goals over preset standards. My aim is to provide care that has lasting effects, applicable at all stages of life.
Community involvement is a crucial part of my life and practice. Having lived in the area for the past eight years, I actively participate in sports leagues, clubs, and youth programs. This engagement allows me to contribute to our community’s health and well-being beyond the walls of our clinic. When I’m not working with patients or advancing my physical therapy knowledge, I enjoy spending time with my three dogs and one cat. I’m always excited to meet new patients, hear about their goals, and create personalized plans to help them succeed. My approach involves hands-on, interactive therapy with constant communication to ensure patients feel supported and see progress.
At Alpha Osteopractic, I’m dedicated to offering my knowledge and passion to help you become your best possible self. I believe that an investment in your health should have lasting effects, and I’m committed to providing the care and guidance to make that a reality. I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey to improved health and performance.
Summer-Rain Bussard
Director of Client Experience at Alpha Osteopractic
My journey to an active lifestyle has been a learning process. Growing up, I participated in soccer, karate, and competitive color guard, but wasn’t taught how to maintain consistent healthy habits. As an adult, I’ve made it my mission to learn and implement these habits for myself and my family. This journey led me to discover CrossFit and deepened my appreciation for the wellness paths our patients at Alpha Osteopractic undertake.
With over 13 years as a top sales and recruiting professional, I’ve honed skills in managing and building businesses both online and in traditional office settings. This experience, combined with my certification as a Wellness Consultant, allows me to contribute uniquely to our practice, optimizing every aspect of our patients’ experience.
At Alpha Osteopractic, I firmly believe in personalized care and top-tier customer service. As Director of Client Experience, I strive to create an environment where each patient feels valued, understood, and supported throughout their treatment.
Outside work, I’m a proud wife of an active duty Marine Corps Osprey pilot, and together we’re raising four wonderful children, including our special needs son. This personal experience enhances my empathy for our patients’ diverse needs. I’m deeply involved in our community, volunteering at my children’s schools and attending local government and school board meetings.
I invite you to stop by our practice, call, or message us with any questions about our services. At Alpha Osteopractic, we’re not just treating patients; we’re building relationships and fostering a community of health and well-being. I look forward to being part of your journey to optimal health!
